Garbageman is young Patrick McGraw, a previous heavyweight on the jazz scene. He has worked with Kool Music in the past, though under strictly business circumstances, being the most senior artist on the eprodux.com label. McGraw presents us his second album this year, Hold My Body Down. His music is cerebral yet warm; groovy yet restrained — and above all practical, intelligent and sexy. It is some of the greatest apartment music the author has ever had the pleasure of listening to.

Kool Music is Jasper Baydala, another young artist with his fingers dipped in multiple – albeit beautiful – jars of honey. He comes to us from the Shield via many other parts of the world, throughly trained in film. Quickly discovering the pleasures of playing music through his work behind local super-label Arbutus Records, Baydala  took up technique and theory more seriously, turned to production, and has already graced the scene with three Kool Music Albums. These count down in reverse order, and after Kool Music 3, we shall expect no more than two or three more albums… His music tends to be thematic, contemplative and refined while remaining humorous and very listenable.
