Francis Gori is the music project of songwriter/producer Addy Weitzman and vocalist Francis Schichtel.

The project's beginnings can be traced back to a drive to the beach, when Addy noticed Francis whistling along to Stardust by Hoagy Carmichael in perfect pitch. It turned out Francis not only had a gift for whistling, but had also sung falsetto in a choir as a child.

A folder of unfinished songs Addy had written years earlier for a former girlfriend to sing came to mind. Although the recordings were never completed, he'd always wondered if the songs might one day find the right voice. Those few songs formed the foundation of Francis Gori, which has since grown into a larger body of work, including their debut Rooms EP.

Stylistically, Francis Gori nods to 80’s synth pop stalwarts like Pet Shop Boys or Bronski Beat, and ethereal outsiders like Julee Cruise and Mazzy Star. Their songs are wandering, lyrics surreal and shadowy, drawn to themes of temptation, ecstasy, uncertainty and longing.

Addy Weitzman is a songwriter and producer known for his work as Footprintz, The Beat Escape, and Dawn to Dawn. His solo album, Light Months Will Fly Over Us, was released on Slacker85 in 2025. He currently lives in Turin, Italy, where he is completing an MA in Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies.

Francis Schichtel was born in a small town outside of Buffalo NY, the youngest of 8 children. His first joys were singing in the church choir and performing in school plays. He moved to New York at 18 to pursue photography. He’s been photographing since, and is now the Director of the Peter Hujar Foundation. Francis Gori marks his return to singing for the first time since high school.
